RESEARCH

The Department of Chemistry has also made noteworthy achievements in research with a DST major project and four UGC minor projects completed. The details of the research are covered in the research centre section.

RESEARCH CENTRE

Dr. S.G. Adoor received a major grant of Rs. 24.3 lacs by Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi in 2010 to undertake the project titled ‘Designing of novel polymeric membranes for pervaporation separation of water/organic mixture’ and also to develop the laboratory. The Physical and Polymer Chemistry laboratory is developed under the same grant. One student worked as a Project Assistant for the project and two papers are published in high impact factor international journals. Other than this, the department has also completed four minor projects funded by University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.

Since the department is successfully running the Post-Graduate course in Organic Chemistry since 2009 it was eligible for the grant of research centre under Rani Channamma University (RCU), Belagavi. Accordingly, the department was recognized as the research centre in July 2021. Presently the department is having two laboratories under the research centre.
